70% Increase in Employee Participation
The employees at Royal Die attended their first Salute, Inc. Memorial Day 5k/10k in 2013. At that time, we had nearly 30 participants representing departments from across the company. Within Royal Die, the popularity of the event has grown by 70% in three years. In 2016 we had +100 employees attend— with their families getting in on fitness fun.
Employees gain health benefits that come with training for these events as well as getting an opportunity to visit with each other outside of work. Three months prior to the event, we starting thinking about our fitness goals during National Wear Red Day (February, 5, 2016) and looked at differing fitness plans for both walkers and runners. Many small groups formed as support systems to meet individual goals before race day.
The reward? Raising community awareness for veterans in need. Salute Inc. provides support to those who have returned from military deployment and are struggling with physical and emotional challenges. The transition to civilian life is often difficult, especially where there is injury. SALUTE delivers short term financial assistance to bridge the temporary income gaps and meet the basic needs of post 9/11 veterans.
It’s a great way to honor the core values of America!
